As I see it, there WAS evidence that Weapons of Mass Destruction (WMDs) actually were used by Iraq's leadership in the Iraq war against Iran, and there was no evidence that ALL of the remaining WMDs had been destroyed or oherwise got rid of. According to unconirmed "reports" Iraq was making more. Also the UN's inspectors had been chased out of Iraq which clearly, obviously, meant that there was something that these inspectors were not supposed to find, probably many more deadly WMDs being produced and made ready for deployment.
..... Iraq had actually invaded Kuwait, one of its neighbors in the early 1990s, and it was likely that Iraq again would "misbehave" itself in many other ways if let off "the leash".
..... There was evidence that the Palestinian terrorists and/or their families were helped financially and/or otherwise by the Iraq leadership, and, with the USA being in a war against terrorists, any friend of terrorists is/was likely to be an enemy of the USA.
..... There was evidence of Iraq having sent deadly missiles into Israel, which is an act of war.
..... There was evidence of gross maltreatment of Kurds and other people living inside Iraq.
..... There was evidence of the Iraq leadership NOT complying with requirements of the Security Council (SC) of the United Nations (UN), but also that the UN was unable to enforce these requirements, partly because the need for unanimity (no use of veto powers) of the permanent members of the SC makes the UN impotent in many cases. For example, in 1948 the Arab neighbors of the brand-new country called Israel invaded Palestine in a war that continues still, which was clearly not permitted by the UN, yet the UN was unable to stop that war ever since.
..... Given all that evidence, I think the US was justified in continuing the just war against Iraq that had been waged by Bush's father in the early 1990s, and that was temporarily interrupted pending Iraq's full compliance with ALL of the imposed requirements.
