In reply to: Ben 's message, "George Bush - the irony of an amendment against gay marriage" on 02/16/05 6:39pm

It's just another example of bush wanting people to see him
as someone who brings christianity into the office of
president.
First of all if bush were truly a born again christian then
he would not have accepted the office in 2000 because of the
clouded election results. If he truly were a christian
then he would have insisted that the voting in Florida be
done over.
And as far as the gay marriage thing he makes it look like
it's a moral issue that's his concern when it's actually
the issue of married gay couples getting benefits. The
moral issue is two people of the same sex having sex and
NO constitutional ammendment is going to stop that from
happening.
And last but very far from least if bush were truly a
born again christian then he would follow the word of God
which says,"As soldiers in the army of Christ we are NOT
to be involved in civilian affairs."

are many ways in which George Bush's
>administration has been ironic, but I think the most
>egregious example is when he proposes an amendment to
>ban gay marriage...

>The reason I find this so ironic is that when a person

>prejudices of the past.
