In reply to: Duane 's message, "Henry Morris Explained - you should read this!" on 08/27/04 4:11am

By the way, has anyone read "Atlas Shrugged" by Ayn Rand? (and also, how do you pronounce her first name? I really have no idea, so if anyone knows, please tell me)

For those of you that haven't, it's one of 2 things, depending on your political leanings.

If you're mostly of the libertarian persuasion (which I am), it's a bit of escapist fantasy, in which you get to see all those whiny good-for-nothings get their come-uppance.

If you're of the mostly Socialist Democrat persuasion, it's "horrible libertarian propaganda."

That said, my paraphrasing of Henry Morris's philosophy of "science" reminds me of the intellectual landscape in "Atlas" where the acceptable philosophy of the day consists of:

1) We can't know anything
2) So why should we bother trying?
3) In fact, if we can't know anything, and there are no answers, then everything is "grey" and there is no right and there is no wrong.
4) So, nobody is responsible for anything.

The implications of creationist "science" are, for one thing, kind of scary. But they're also (and this is the funny part) the antithesis of Christianity. How can this be?

Bleah.

Duane
