Depends on how you define present-day “Christianity.” I would also be curious as to what exactly you think original Christianity was like.

I don’t know about that.

But if I had to guess, I would have to say Messianic Jews are the closest to original Christianity. Why? Well, not only was Jesus himself Jewish, but so were essentially all of his original followers and nearly all the New Testament authors. In fact, one of the pressing questions in earliest Christianity was, “Can a Gentile believe in Jesus?” (See Acts 15.) It is interesting to note that when it came to violent anti-Semitism, there was no such thing as professing Christians doing it for hundreds of years, longer than the U.S. has been around (it was so virtually nonexistent that there are no recorded cases of it happening during that time, though there are recorded instances of Jews persecuting Christians). Of course, if we fast-forward to the eleventh century, we see something very different with the Crusades and Inquisition (which, as you might have guessed, bore little resemblance to early Christianity).
