Please consider the following information as per the important subject of “Water baptism”
All true believers in The Bible were baptized (on the day of Pentecost and after the day of Pentecost) in the precious name of JESUS CHRIST which is the NAME of The Father and of The Son and of The Holy Ghost.
Jesus said, “Baptizing them in the NAME (singular) of The Father and of The Son and of The Holy Ghost.” Matthew 28:19.
Notice it is ONE name (not two or three) which is the NAME (SINGULAR) of The Father and of The Son and of The Holy Ghost.
That NAME is JESUS CHRIST as we see being used in:
Acts 2:38.
Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of JESUS CHRIST for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.
Let us recall that Jesus had GIVEN Peter the keys to the Kingdom of Heaven:
Matthew 16:19.
And I will give unto THEE (Peter) the keys of the kingdom of heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven .
Now on the day of Pentecost people are asking, “What shall we do?” and here stands Peter, the man with the keys, so he uses the keys to unlock the Kingdom of Heaven to them.
Philip also baptized in the precious name of JESUS
Acts 8:16.
(For as yet he was fallen upon none of them: only they were baptized in the name of the LORD JESUS.)
Again we read of Peter baptizing in the precious name of JESUS
Acts 10:48.
And he commanded them to be baptized in the NAME of the Lord. Then prayed they him to tarry certain days.
QUESTION: What is the NAME of The Lord ?
ANSWER: JESUS CHRIST – as per the following scripture:
Acts 2:36.
Therefore let all the house of Israel know assuredly, that God hath made the same JESUS, whom ye have crucified, both LORD and CHRIST.
Paul also baptized in the precious name of JESUS as per the following scripture:
Acts 19:5.
When they heard this, they were baptized in the name of the Lord JESUS.
THE FACT OF THE MATTER IS SIMPLY THIS: THE APOSTLES BAPTIZED IN THE NAME OF JESUS CHRIST.
Indeed, the early church baptized in the name of JESUS CHRIST right up until the start of the Roman Catholic organization.
To baptize in the “titles” is a Roman Catholic DOGMA.
If anyone has any false ideas that history can prove water baptism in any other way than in the Name of the Lord Jesus Christ, I would advise you to read the histories and find out for yourself.
The following is a true record of a Baptism which took place in Rome A.D. 100 and was reproduced in TIME Magazine December 5, 1955. "The deacon raised his hand, and Publius Decius stepped through the baptistry door. Standing waist-deep in the pool was Marcus Vasca the woodseller. He was smiling as Publius waded into the pool beside him. 'Credis?' he asked. 'Credo,' responded Publius. 'I believe that my salvation comes from Jesus the Christ, Who was crucified under Pontius Pilate. With Him I died that with Him I may have Eternal Life.' Then he felt strong arms supporting him as he let himself fall backward into the pool, and heard Marcus' voice in his ear--'I baptize you in the Name of the Lord Jesus'--as the cold water closed over him."
Lastly, the Bride allways takes the husband`s name, The Bride in this case is marrying JESUS CHRIST, so therefore she will take HIS NAME in water baptism.
Please consider the following statement by Jesus:
Matthew 7:13 +14.
Vs. 13. Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat:
Vs. 14. Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.
Please notice how the word: STRAIT is spelt
S - T - R - A - I – T
It is NOT spelt S-T-R-A-I-G-H-T.
The word STRAIGHT MEANS: Without a bend or curve - passing from one point to another by nearest course.
The word STRAIT MEANS: A narrow channel of water.
Here in Matthew 7: 13 + 14 Jesus is informing us of the MASSIVE IMPORTANCE of water baptism.
Colosians 3:17. And WHATSOEVER ye do in word or deed (BAPTISM IS BOTH WORD AND DEED) do all in the name of The Lord Jesus.
