• and there in its the problem with dancing these days. .lots of dancers didn't even get a medal. .. Oh dear. ., weren't they handing them out like Sweeties like most feis do. We really need to get back to the days when dancers were pleased if they received a medal as it meant they were actually good enough in that dance. Now adays dancers receive sashes and stand on podiums and get medals and trophies galore for pointing a toe. children must be taught that not everyone wins and only some are rewarded and that turning up is not enough of a reason to win a trophy.   • Have to agree with original poster if only placing 5 dancers in each competition then where's encouragement for dancers who won't make top5. Hard to justify cost of feis coming away empty handed not knowing if u were 6th or 26th. Not taking away from the champions they well deserve their place but they are laden with sashes and trophies and for all the cost of a few more medals other deserving dancers could be rewarded. • In every feis I have been too confined champs only give something to 1st place - have yet to attend a feis where they give out more in a confined champs. As for normal champs top three were award cups - it has always been that way at newbridge in all the years I have attended and never changed so fail to see what to great surprise was here. Solo places and the the amount of children placed has absolutely nothing to do with the feis organisers - the number of dancers placed in solos is ALWAYS a percentage based on the number of children dancing. No point complaining abt the feis organisers when its in the rule book and the feis did not draw big numbers. Standard feis with standard prizes that didnt draw big numbers which is a real shame as it all goes to charity.   • I was there for the morning session and thought it was quite good. We enjoyed it - my dd ( pre open) came home with 2 medals.....many times she hasn' t. Thought the feis ran well, nice hall , and good facilities. Also pleased that a charity was getting something out of it ...well done to the organisers and hope the proceeds were high. • We bought them in Connolly's Shoe Shop in Talbot Street, Dublin. Our experience is any decent hard shoe requires a certain amount of 'breaking in'. This allows them to last for a long time. • Halluchans should come with a bottle of super glue cause thats what you'll need after two months - the stitching gives very easy. the Aoife's are good and half the price but you need to buy a size smaller as they do stretch and please to say stitching still holding.
