If the title for this pageant was different, I would compete. Even though you don't have to have any 'ties' to the St. John Valley, I don't want to compete for a title that I have no relation to whatsoever. I'm sure you will have contestants in each and every category, and I'm sorry that you took offense to my reason for not entering. Each and every person competes in pageants for a reason. And each reason differs from contestant to contestant (not one reason being better than the other)..kids compete so they can win a crown or because their mother makes them. FYI, some pageants don't donate their earnings to specific organizations, so for those competing in that type of pageant, they are competing for the 'title' and the opportunity to use that title to promote their specific platform. I guess I'm blessed...everything we make through sponsors and at the door is cleared to the Charity...Very impressive if you ask me, especially coming from a small town. If you want a quality production, all money that comes in needs to go to it. Hotel/ballroom or theatre setting costs an arm and a leg. Well, mine will be a school Auditorium this year and I can assure you their will be nothing cheap about it. It really has nothing to do with Venue. You can make a high school look like a million bucks. And, I will continue to take my judges out to expensive dinners because they are giving me their time,and I will continue to have it at expensive venues because the girls deserve this. Yes, it is me. I was just being lazy with the email address. YES, I will be having Miss Maine USA/Miss Maine Teen USA at the Westbrook Performing Arts Center and if you have ever been there then you know it is state of the art.
