Hey Ste Hil,

How ya doing, dude?

Great hearing from ya.

That is COOL your in the l0th grade level in UK and not 9th if you were here in USA!

You met school vs school is taken seriously here in the USA. Even if in ones own school district a school plays in is rivalry. In our school sports league we play two school in the county we live in and when we meet for football, basketball and baseball which I play in; besides the school playing other sports, the sports are hotly contested and the players and parents get into it bigtime. Sometimes us players if we become a bit of a "hothead" might rack up a few penalties for ourselves of the team.

We've had parents yell at refs and umpires too! So that i really getting into it.

Hope you enjoy watching the SUPER BOWL tape delayed. I, and best Jake have picked New England to win and other best buds Drew and Sean want New York, so we'll see who win. We have a friendly wager going to see who wins and loses.

I see your country is hosting the Olympics this summer. Will you be attending? I like to follow Michael Phelps the swimmer.

Have a good rest of the week.

What favorite subjects you like in school? I like US History for one of mine.

I am well thank you.

We get parents yelling at the referees in our youth sport too, both at school and junior club football.

I am afraid I won't be going to watch the Olympics, except on TV. Luckily it is on TV in the school holidays.

Hi Ste Hil,

Great hearing from you!

You got parents yelling at refs at sports in your school, too?

It must be catchy all over the world! LOL.

Speaking of yelling at refs.

Last night when I was playing in our high school basketball game, which we won 53-52 because of a basket I sank with 3seconds left to play in the game (look for Friday, Feb.3, game results of the Hoopsters here in the forum), I found myself almost wanting to yell at one of the game refs who called some fouls on me that I didn't think I made.

Parents from our home cheering section agreed with me that I didn't make them. They were yelling at the ref, booing at him, etc. Sometimes it was embarrassing to see these parents do this, not knowing if they were helping me or making things worse.

So, your not going to the Olymipcs? Sorry to hear that. I'd love to see some of the games. I got into last time Olympics as held and watched quite a bit on TV of them

Do you know what the average price of tickets are to attend?

You mentioned you'd watch some on TV, and lucky they be on while you have school holidays?

Do you go to school year around?

Here in the USA we usually break from school attending late May or early June and don't return back until late August or early Sept. What gives?

You might be interested to know I have some friends living in your country. Two live in northern London and another outside. One is into hot-air ballooning and has come to the USA several times to compete. I met them a few times, and have rode in their balloon. It is so peaceful riding along in a balloon!

Have a good week at school! Stay spank-free at home. I have for a few months, too! LOL

Yes parents yelling refs in kids football matches as if they were at a professional match!

The tickets vary in price a lot depending on the event. Some are really expensive. But yes I will be able to watch it all on TV as the Olympics are late July, early August.

The school year starts at the beginning of September. There are 3 terms. Sept to xmas, January to Easter and then Easter to mid July. We have 6 weeks off in the summer, 2 each at Easter and xmas and a week in late October, late February and late May. They are called half term holidays.

I forgot to answer the question abour my favourite subject at school. I would say maths, history and English.

I have been to a hot air balloon festival near Bristol.

Hi Ste Hil,

I suppose you, like me, have been doing great to not earn yourself a spanking lately? I haven't gotten one since last November so got a streak going for me here!

You got me curious, what's ticket prices ranging for attending different Olympic Events? Glad you'll be able to watch on TV, like me!

You got a pretty neat school year from what you listed when you attend classes for the months that you do. School for me begins first week in September but, I play football and they have our games start two weeks before school starts because of the league play and then end of the seaon play-offs to get final teams to the championship weekend of our Thanksgiving here in the USA.

We get like week and half to two weeks Christmas vacation off from school and then back like Jan. 3 and run to spring break close to Easter Holiday and have GOOD FRIDAY off and one week vacation and back to classes until school ends for the year usually Friday before our Memorial holiday weekend like May 30. Then have the summer months no school until, start in September for a new school year. We have other days off from school like teacher's workshops we don't attend classes, etc.

Glad to see you like history, too! I like US History most, but do like some world history and about time periods of wars our country fought in like our American Revolutionary War to win Independence from your Country, also I like American Civil War l861-l865.

I like reading history of your country and about that late Princess Diana and her kids. How is Prince Charles and bride Kate getting along?

Have you ever seen any members of the Royal Family before, like going to and from castles or parades or wedding of Prince William and Princess Kate last year?

If you've been to a hot air balloon festival near Bristol, then I met you've seen my friend fly his balloon who is from England!

I understand your country banned spanking in schools sometimes ago? They used a cane, something like a switch? Not sure how was given, was bare butt allowed? What was the reason they stopped for? What punishments do schools use now, with spanking not allowed?

USA school I attend allows for us to get paddled by principal, teachers or coaches. I have before by some of them, and was glad to get punishment over with. Would you rather get a spanking at school, if you could, or take some other kind of punishment instead?

Good talking with ya!

Hi Mark

I think the most expensive will be the top price seats for the track and field finals. £725 or $1100!!

I have seen a good documentary series about the US Civil war by Ken Burns.

The Royal Family are doing ok I guess. I am not that interested in them really. William is going to the Falkland Islands and his brother Harry is going to Afghanistan as an Apache helicopter pilot.

I have only seen Charles when he launched a canal boat that can be used by people who use wheelchairs.

In state schools it was banned in 1986 and private ones in the late 1990s. Yes the cane was used, though it depended on the local area whether it was used on the bottom or hand. I don't think bare was allowed. Going further back in history then something called a birch was used - a bunch of twigs and that was on the bare. I am not sure why Corporal punishment was stopped, but I guess it was deemed to be old fashioned.

At school you can get detention or worse excluded for a period of time like a week or worse than that expelled.

I have only ever had one detention, I am not sure if I would swap it for being caned. But I reckon if I get another detention now I would get spanked at home instead.

Ste
