So I'll continue...
OK, so in 7th grade my girlfriend said men were wimpy because they would never standup to wearing a girdle all day. A challenge... Her mother thought it was funny and said the challenge was fair. A few days later on the Saturday morning, I was invited over for Danish rolls for breakfast. To my terror, her mom pulled out a long leg girdle (I can't remember the brand). Oh my Lord what have I gotten myself into, I was so red faced and sweating. 'There's the bathroom, go in and change'. My desire overwhelmed my senses and I managed to put it on and somehow was able to leave the bathroom. I had to show the top to verify I was wearing it and she said the challenge has started. The girlfriend just snickered. That afternoon, we went out for an ice cream, petrified that someone would see the garter bump, but no one noticed. So after all day, with no complaints and adjusting to what had just happened, she declared me a winner that evening and told me to keep the girdle. Ok, I was completely addicted, now how do I hide this. (another memory)

The girl friend ended in the first year of high school but her mother, Fran and I remained very close friends. Fran had 5 siblings, all women, and wearing a girdle and stockings everyday was normal except Saturdays with stocking optional. Fran's mother worked in a large department store in the millinery (hats and gloves) and foundations department and told Fran and her sisters about a few men that would come in and purchase. Their mother always made sure they were properly dressed. So Fran thought it was perfectly fine for anyone to wear a girdle. For Fran and her siblings, wearing a girdle was normal. Not wearing one was to lose your self respect. This was back in the 50's and 60's when most women wore girdles everyday. When you went downtown shopping, you always dressed properly. I remember women always wore hats and gloves, men wore suits with hats. There were no malls or shopping centers at that time. Fran told me a girdle gave yourself a better perspective. She thought nothing of it when she got me a girdle. So finally, I understood the challenge from my girlfriend and Fran. So after this, I became very comfortable wearing a girdle and Fran always reminded me how well I looked and made sure I was always 'proper' too. This was back before pantyhose put an end to the girdle and garter era. Between 1970 and 1980 that was all gone, pantyhose took over. Fran's husband was killed in the 1960's in the Vietnam War and she never remarried. She paid me to do yard work and other needed help around the house. I think this is why we became very close friends for over 50 years. Not too long ago, Fran passed and the former girlfriend asked me to be a pallbearer at her funeral, a sad day for me.
