Subject: When is a DTP shot necessary?

Our family relocated from a rural town in Virgina to Rhode Island and I have arranged for my two teen girls to have their wellness exams next week. The school nurse has informed me that they must show proof of a DPT shot as well as evidence of a physical exam. I had thought that they were up to date in terms of shots but now I am not so sure. Thanks.

They are good for ten years unless you get a cut and then five years. The push is to have everyone get the DTP. It will make their arm sore a few days or if they get it in their bottom they will walk off the stiffness. Hope this helps

Thanks for the information. I called the doctor's office and was told that the shot is given in the buttock but will tell them we when go so as to not alarm them too soon. It sounds like it might hurt a bit.

The best thing to do is lie flat on their stomach. Point their toes inward. Dont tense. A quick slap on their bare cheek and they dont feel the stick. Afterwards go on a walk. let me know how it went.

They went yesterday for their physicals and shot. They are twins, age 14, and cried when given the shot. She made them stand and turn in their feet somewhat. It seemed to make their bums push out some and both were nude in a gown anyway so that may have made it all the more embarassing. The stick looked painful as each one flinched and gasped then tears.

I am a college student and my friend and I had to get our DTP so we could attend college. My friend is a nurse and told me that he would give out shots to us for free. We went over to his house last night to swim in his pool at his apartment. He had both injections laying on the counter when we arrived. We went into the spare bedroom and changed into our suits. He said you might as well get your shot now and you can work it into your muscle as you swim. he said this shot needs to go in your bottoms as it will hurt less. He called me over to the couch and told me to lie on my stomach. Bree stood there watching as he untied my bottoms and exposed my butt. I felt the cold alcohol swab as he rubbed it on my hip. he pinched my butt a few times and then I felt him stick the needle in and it made me jump. he rubbed my left cheek a few moments and helped tie up my bottoms. It really did not hurt bad just the shock the needle going in. Bree was slow to come and lie down. He pulled down her bottoms. She tightened up her butt cheeks as he wiped the pad across her right bun. he had to slap her on her cheek a few times until she relaxed and then darted her in the butt with the needle. He rubbed her butt a few times and pulled up her bottoms. We went out for the swim abd came back a couple of hours later. he asked us how our rear ends felt and surprising neither of had a sore butt.

My 15 yo had her wellness exam and DPT and Gardisil. She is at the age where everything is a debate and usually I am "wrong." She wasn't pleased to go for her physical and hated having to take everything off. She was clearly embarassed when being weighed and having her bottom on display. She seems to have no issue wearing tight jeans but when told to remove her bra and panties, she got all shy and tentative. She got a full exam including a rectal temp and a rectal exam - her first - and then her shots, which she never expected having to get one in each buttock. She was especially quiet on the ride home and careful about sitting! I doubt that she will be quiet for long but there is nothing like a trip to the doctors to get her quiet!

I had to take my sister who is 16 to the doctor to get her DTP. We are sitting there while the nurse gets her shot. The nurse comes back in and tells her she needs to lower her shorts and bend over. My sister looks at me and I start to leave. She said no stay here and hold my hand. She pulled down her shorts and panties. I am looking at her white bottom and watch as the needle puts this long needle in her butt cheek. She jumps and screams out as she injects. My sister stands up and rubs her butt cheek a few times before pulling up her shorts. She said afterward it wasnt that bad.

Hi,
I don't get it with these stories. I had to have a DPT shot when I went BACK to college in my 30's. While I could have shown proof through bloodwork that I had immunity, I decided to take the TWO shots a month apart. I stood on a long line with the rest of the college kids and waited until I was called in. I was as nervous as hell not having had a shot in over 10 years. I got the shot. It was in the arm. It hurt! I didnt wait the 20 minutes they wanted me to. The other students were waiting on a bench and many were crying. But in no way would they ever give a DPT or a flu shot in the butt. At least not in New York. It was hard enough to get everyone to accept getting them in the arm, let alone the butt! Waiting on the line, I could easily see that NO ONE wanted to get the shot at all. So I don't get these stories of DPT and the flu shot being given in the butt; And why would a girl ever let anyone else be present when they need to get a shot in the butt? It's embarrassing at best. That would be like a girl letting her boyfriend stay when she gets a gyno checkup? No way. So whats the deal with these stories? .....Thanks Tim

I have been giving DTP shots for many years. They tend to make your arm very tender for several days. If you get it in your butt you work it into your muslce as you walk. You tend not want to move your arm as much so it gets stiff. You would be surprised to know that many girls are more willing to get an injection in their butt than their arm. Men will pull down their shorts a little and women tend to bare their whole cheek. Young girls tend to be wearing a thong so their who bottom is exposed.

I also don't get these spanking stories. A parent would have to be a total sadist to ever spank a kid hard because they wouldn't take a shot. Especially spanking them where the shot is to be given! I doubt any doctor would even give the shot if they just saw a kid get spanked to any degree! That would be plain vicious. Are these stories real at all with the spanking?
