Subject: Mixed emotions about pain

Buttock injections in my youth were either penicillin or booster shots. The former were painful to get but not so bad afterwards, whereas the latter just felt like pinpricks when getting them but left me unable to sit down for a day or so afterwards. While bending over awaiting the jab I always hoped it wouldn't hurt but, if it didn't, I often wished it had because I feared the extreme posterior tenderness that would come later.

I know the feeling. Many doctor visits would leave me unable to sit for a while.
