Hi Rob,
How old are your boys/girls? I would think at an old enough age, they would feel a bit embarrassed? Also, I never heard of a nerveless area whether it be on the butt or above the butt. If this is true, why doesn't this method spread and injections become always non painful? What injections do you have to give to your kids?
Thanks
Tim

Rob, I think you're making too fine a point, no pun intended--the hip muscle is one and the same as the buttocks. It has fewer nerves than some other places on the body, but definitely does hurt with some injections.

Not saying you're doing it wrong, as you have plenty of experience, but I have a nurse friend who told me that the measurement is easier to do accurately if the butt cheek is fully exposed. In his view, a few minutes of embarrassment should not be a reason to compromise the method.
