I felt the long needles as they were forced in deep. Then a brief pause before the searing pain as the nurse depressed the syringe plunger and the penicillin was discharged into me. The antibiotic going in was the worst part. During one injection the pain was so bad I moved and the nurse told me to keep still or the needle would break! My semi-annual travel inoculations always include at least gamma globulin and cholera. The comparison is interesting in that gg is a huge shot that can take several minutes to inject, whereas cholera is just a brief sting but it is the cholera cheek I can't sit on next day. My boyfriend took me there because he works there. He warned me that I might be getting a shot of penicillin. I told him the way I feel now whatever works. Dr Patel came in looked at my throat and ordered a rapid strept test. My boyfriend comes back carrying two small syringes with white medicine and a small syringe and closes the door. You are giving me three shots? I could give you one big shot of this LA bicillin but you butt would hurt for a week. This shot is a steroid which will reduce the swelling. I am sitting in the chair and I have this sick feeling in my stomach. I have heard the penicillin hurts like hell. Jim looks at me and says I am going to be gentle. I am also embarrased knowing I am going to have to bare my bottom. I got up on the gurney and laid on my stomach. He flipped up my dress above my waist and pulled down my blue lacey panties. I think I tunred five shades of red as he gently wiped the alcohol across my left hip. I jumped when he stuck the needle in my hip and injected what felt like liquid fire. It was the steroid shot. Afterward he took his time rubbing the spot. Then he uncapped the first 18g needle and wiped my right hip. it felt like a pencil hand been stuck in my hip and then I felt a glue ball as he slowly injected. I was in tears. Jim gently rubbed my hip telling me one more to go. This time Jim slapped me 2 on my left hip before he stuck me which did help with the needle stick. I still felt the ball form in my small butt muscle. Aftrerward I looked over my should and swa three small blood trails running down my white cheeks. He put 3 snoopy bandaids on the sites. He slipped up my panties and helped me off the table. When I got home I limped into to my house. I laid down on the couch and had Jim rub my bare buttocks for the next hour or so.
