It's difficult to say. It's certainly true that some people now that age were given inoculations in "the bottom" when they were children. Whether or not a particular person was would depend on the doctor/nurse giving the injection. The older they were, the more likely they would have trained that way and have used that site.

Also I do not know the the common practices in countries other than the U.S. except that many foreign doctors and nurses do study here.
