 When I was a day patient in a clinic for minor surgery under general anaesthetic, a nurse entered my cubicle holding the pre-op injection behind her back so I couldn't see it, which really frightened me. Her condescending, "I'm just going to give you a little shot, it won't hurt," didn't help because if it really was just a little shot, she wouldn't be so careful not to let me see it. She told me to bend over the exam table and, after I did so, she pulled my pants down to my thights. Looking through the ground floor window, I noticed a young lady walking her dog across the street. When she looked in my direction and smiled, I was embarrassed at the thought that she might presume from my position what was about to happen and perhaps even saw the syringe behind me. Then I felt it - a deep jab fairly low on my right cheek followed by the injection itself. It really hurt and seemed to take forever but it didn't leave my bottom sore afterwards.
