I went camping with my husband and son this weekend and I got into some poison ivy. The camper next to me we had meet earlier told me he was an ER nurse. I went over to see him and he knew immediately what it was. he asked if I had any allergies and I said no. He came back in a hour with some cream and a steroid pack. He also had two syringes. He took them out and said one was itching and was a steroid. Great just what I wanted 2 shots. He then explained that both of the shots would have to go in my hip. We stepped inside my trailer and went back to the bedroom. I laid across the bed. He pulled down my shorts to my knees along with my panties. He told me to point my toes inward. He open up this cold a;lcohol swab and wipes it across my hip and then I feel him pinch my butt cheek and stab me with the first needle. Ouch! I then I feel him rubbing my hip. This next one stings a little more he said. He slaps me on my right cheek twice hard and then gives me the shot which I did not feel. My hip was still stinging from his slap. He rubbed my butt a few moments and slipped up my panties and shorts. He told me as we walked out that by slapping me that shot hurt less. I said I am 22 and those were the first shots in my butt. 20 minutes later I told him the itching was gone. Awesome. I have one more benadryl if the itching comes back. OK as long as it is not that steroid shot.
