About 5 years ago, at age 34, I had to go to an ER after an unfortunate encounter with a cat that was found to have rabies. Pretty nerve-wracking situation, and when after finally being called into a semi-private exam area, I was weighed and then a doctor came in with five vials and a bunch of syringes. I had expected to get one shot, and it was partly the shock of seeing that may needles, and then the shock of being told to pull my pants down, and then the shock of how much the first one hurt. Each shot seemed to take minutes, and by the third one I was crying. The fourth was worst of all, and I remember being pretty embarrassed by the whole thing.
