G-d’s Grace
By Carlo G. Soldevilla
Written on April 24, 2019

It pained me to read my mom’s letter telling me to go back home..
..and be with my brothers—that I have to leave Ateneo (Davao)
and just choose any school in Kidapawan for me to study, so I could attend to the needs of my brothers. (Later, I was still able to go back schooling in Ateneo because I asked my dad that I wanted to be there (Ateneo) and he agreed. Thus, I finished my A.B. Communication Arts in Ateneo de Davao University. (I also finished nursing in Manila..and in the coming months, I have to take the board exam for nursing

At the tender age of 17 (Joseph, the dreamer was 17 when he was at Captain Potiphar’s house),
I ‘left’ Davao for Kidapawan, had to obey my mom since she was working abroad to help send us to school.--
(At first, a domestic helper in Oman but in the later years she became a nutritionist-dietician (her profession) in Saudi.).

Acting like a mother for my 3 younger brothers was not easy. This pic’s (below) taken upon my mom’s request for me to send to her (No internet those times.).

By G-d’s loving grace and mercy, the smallest in this pic has 11 condo units all occupied by tenants in Metro Manila (What I know is that one condo unit is at MOA).

This pastor shepherding us is Rev. Elias Provido. It was him who’s telling us that he cherished our family most for reasons that even ‘without a mother’ , we still were able to manage to go on with life. Maybe some will call it perseverance but I call it G-d’s grace.
