Super Lolo

It’s good that it’s not Christmas time when the child or toddler in the jeep greeted me
The timing is important. Just imagine, if it’s yuletide season, the greeting- What will be?--
Super lolo? --It’s a firecracker’s name that when it explodes, its sound is like supersoni(c) .
Wisdom comes with age, they say….and ‘gray hair is a crown of glory…’ –Proverbs 16: 3(1)

Lolo
by Carlo G. Soldevilla
March 12, 2019

As I entered the jeep last nite and was happily seated,
A child pointed to my hair, called me…..not a quite-nice adjective
Looking at my hair that’s colored white, he innocently called me lolo
His parents told him not to say so but the ‘damage’ had been done—the adjective made my self esteem super low.

I’m not into applying black color to my hair as my age ‘slowly’ moves to senescence
Children, on the other hand, are my inspiration to paint. For two years I’d been sharing to them my painting skills in the gallery which I own and until now I’ve been enjoying their presence.
Picasso learned the way to paint like a child in a period of twenty (20) years,
The child’s art looks so simple, yet so hard for an adult to do..back to that child.. I only smiled at him…..one thing is sure, he cares (to call me lolo.).
