Her Father’s Daughter (Poem for Sara Duterte)

A woman would always honestly tell what she feels inside,
And she would always stand in defense of her father no matter what it costs.

This dabawenya, a well-respected leader, soft-spoken but having an iron heart
She loves humanity, and she listens to the people’s pleas, defending the poor and needy.
She acts on matters which she needs to act upon and she would always be ‘brave heart.’

Learn from the durian, you fella’s, it’s the king of all fruits.
The wisest, that when it bear fruits..and the harvest season comes, honestly, you need not climb it.
It simply drops its fruit.

This woman, and this heavy burden which she now feels , have to speak her mind, and not to let go of her feelings but have to fight with her whole heart to ever win that victory.
She knows what success means, achieved by honest gain and not through forms of deceipt.
She’s unique among women and she’s definitely not Joan of Arc or Helen of Troy but she could always be Queen Esther,--
Judging carefully, filled with heavenly wisdom and she carefully utters the words which she had to say.

‘San Pedro’ must have lent her his rooster and San Beda, the fighting spirit.
She knows how the lung functions and how the law operates.
She’s a Tausug fighter, strong-willed, a highly principled woman.
She deserves a song to be written just for her and a poem that would perfectly describe who she is.
Sarah is her name and she would always be Jewish by heart (born by her mother, Elizabeth).

She is a Filipina who could be the country’s next president (Who knows?). A nation like this (Philippines) deserves a woman who is strong and a woman who is seeing things from the eagle’s point-of-view (3 kilometers from the air, the eagle clearly sees the coin on the grass or its prey because the eagle’s eye is 8 times more powerful than the human eye).
Just imagine what she (Sara) envisions for her city and for her country.
She is Sara, and she would always be her father’s daughter.

Note: I don’t know if ‘She is Sara’ would be the best title for this poem.
