Most hilarious experience!

NO PHILIPPINE MONEY TO PAY,
WE NEARLY WASHED DISHES!

By Manny Piñol

Getting off a late night flight of PAL in Davao City, I and my staff were so hungry that we dropped by an eatery along the Davao Diversion and feasted on grilled Tuna, fried Bangus, Sinabawan Malasugue and Lato or seaweeds.

It was our first Filipino food after a 2-week trip to Brazil and Argentina.

After the sumptuous dinner at Elyong' Carenderia, we asked for the bill and the total payable was P850.

It was then when we found out that none of us, Bong, my brother and Executive Assistant, Mayette Tudlas, my staff, and.myself, had no Philippine peso.

Mayette rushed to the ATM to withdraw cash but all of the five machines nearby were offline.

Finally, I talked to the restaurant staff and asked if I could pay my check with.a $20 bill which I said was valued at P1,000.

"Hala! Si Secretary Piñol ka man diay Sir!," the cashier exclaimed.

"Madawat kaha na imong dollar Sir," she asked leaving me red-faced.

I joked that if they would not accept the $20 bill, we could just wash the dishes.

They all laughed and took.my $20.

Moral lesson: Even if you are starving, check your wallet first before eating to make sure you don't end up washing dishes in the restaurant.
