And then again, there's also more to the hobby than sitting around in your underwear at your computer arguing with someone about 429 cam shafts, 1/4 mile times and what a guy in Wisconsin that no one knows said about the 1978 Ford police car.

Those of us who own the vintage cars and go to many of the major get-togethers around the country are not necessarily members of a national organization. At one time, I was a member of both the PCOOA and EVOOA. My personal opinion was that one of the clubs was completely disorganized although its intentions were good and the other club merely served to provide the club president with supplemental retirement income. I enjoyed my time in each club but like many others I decided to move on.

There have been several people who have taken it upon themselves to do their own part to promote the police car hobby and sponsor localized annual shows that have grown into annual national events like Ripon, CA; Washington DC; Strathroy, Ontario; Faulkner, PA; Festus, MO; Chicago, IL and the newest event in NYC. These shows do not require membership in a club and welcome enthusiasts from all over to show off their cars.

Word for these shows gets around via email and various websites but mostly right here on discussion boards like this one as well as the main pages at www.copcar.com.

Save the money you would have spent on club memberships and spend it on your car.

See you at the shows.
