When restoring my first MHP car, I had much contact with him, he aided immensely in the restoration of my car. He also sent me a history of the MHP, and explained about the true meaning of 3-7-77. There are lots of wive's tales, not unlike the "33" on the back of your Rolling Rock label, but the truth about it is, it's vigilante code, from the days of the old Montana vigilantes which later evolved into "territorial rangers". And the code translated to "sudden death-we always get our man", they would write this code on the door when they'd located a fugitive, kind of a calling card, and that's straight from the horses mouth. This is kept rather quiet nowadays more for the sake of being politically correct than anything else. By the way, my second MHP car is coming along quite nicely, albeit slow.
