For whatever it was worth: the 1979=80 Dodge St Regis 360 HP in Canada was never equipped with catalytic converters from the factory, true free flowing dual exhausts.........that tidbit I found out in a Dodge shop manual.
As far as Ford is concerned: about 10 years ago here in Arizona there was a 1975 Mercury Meteor sedan registered here........no cats either. The emissions label made no mention of them at all. Maybe the 460 PI cars in Canada were non catalyst as well...........
What is odd is that even in Calif. one can apparently import a Canadian spec car, at least before a certain model year and register it............case in point, a 1980 Chevy Camaro with a non computer controlled 305 V8 and NO smog pump. 100% legal as far as the CARB was concerned.
As to Chris and has claim for a 14 second 1/4 460 PI: that is plausible being that I remember reading about a 1974 Chevy Chevelle 454 that with mild modifications yet retaining all of the smog controls running 14's as well.........stock 2 series gears, TH 400 etc. Plus the 1973-77 GM A bodies were well over 4,000 lbs curb weight as well.
