The 74 Chevelle with everything the same would have similar results if outfitted with the highway gears that the PI had in 78. The minimum that those Chevys had was 3.27:1 ratios and if its the "street rod Heavy Chevy" from one of the rodding mags it was outfitted with a higher rearend in order to improve the trap times. I really am not disputing that a car of over 4000 pounds cannot do 14's but in stock form (no modifications!!) the cars were not rated for the necessary 310+ HP at the rear axles that are needed to make those set of physics to occur. Now if the emissions do play that large of a role in this there is also the possibility that since the cats are not there that the carb is jetted higher to allow more fuel flow thereby allowing the opportunity for increased HP. All that I am saying is that we need to see what Chris comes up with from his restored ride!
