You're right. They did that on more than one car. They would cut the cats of the exhaust and run straight dual exhuast. For the crap cars that were around in the mid 70's with all the smog, they ended up with the fastest cars on the peninsula that were new. They did the same thing to the Monarchs and the Granadas.
