Dave simply voiced his opinions, and moreover, he displayed a good sense of humor as usual. Doesn't the message board have a pre-statement about not wearing your feelings....
Apparently, Don lost control of his emotions and made all kinds of demands of Dave. Demands that are simply unbecoming for members of the hobby, for former members of law enforcement etc. etc. And it seems that Don implicitly or explicitly insulted the rest of country, too, by claiming that we don't feel the pain of the East Coast folks. Maybe, Don lost his perspective after what happened last year. The East Coast is not the epicenter of the world. Maybe, he forgot that the Oklahoma City bombing happened in Oklahoma. Maybe, he forgot that the Federal Building in Dallas was the initial target, and McVeigh only went to Oklahoma City because he could not find suitable parking in front of the building in Dallas. Or maybe, he forgot that the rest of the nation donated so much money to the East Coast after 9-11 that charities elsewhere are short of money, have to close homeless shelters because of lack of funds, that animals are being euthanized at record numbers because of lack of funds at animal shelters etc. etc.
Now, it can happen to the best of us that we lose control of our emotions. But the best of us also recognize that and admit it and apologize for the lapse in our judgment. For the good of the hobby, I think, Don should apologize to Dave and not escalate this issue further. Anyone, who really READS all of Dave's statements in the course of this issue will recognize how balanced and how humorous the comments were.
