Reaction time is saved because a foot is already over the brake pedal. Not a big deal in the country, but try stopping 6300 lbs with crappy GM brakes in the city and you'll know where I'm coming from. Every foot of stopping distance saved counts. I'm not lazy so you won't see my brake lights coming on unless I mean it. I only drive auto trans so there is no confusion factor for me. So thats why I always drive hokey pokey style...with my left foot in.
