Now here's a guy who is trying to be mainstream but remains a closet collector... I've never seen his 53 Ford Texas DPS car at a police car show. Maybe somebody can tell him he'd have more support from police car collectors if he'd go to shows.

Very intersting car picture on his web site, shown below.

First I want to thank all of our supporters for your time and effort to make this years Route 66 Emergency Vehicle Rally a reality. We all worked very hard to organize and promote this event. Nobody realizes more than I, the amount of time, effort and money that go into organizing a trip like this. It's only with the assistance and support of people like you that these kinds of positive events can take place.

On the other hand, there are those out there who do not share our enthusiasm and only support a venture when it benefits their pocketbook. This is unfortunate when we all claim to want the same thing 'to promote Route 66'.

What I am leading up to is a plea for more support and assistance for our rally. This event is a not-for-profit event, we don't even charge the participants to join. All the labor is volunteered from our offices in McAllen, Texas.

Our goal this year is to raise enough funds from contributions to cover the cost of promoting the rally and sending our staff members on the trip. This year we estimate it will cost us $5000 to accomplish this goal. In the years to come, we would like to raise enough funds to pay the way for our officers and firemen's hotel and meals during the trip.

We are not giving up or throwing in the towel by any means. We are simply postponing the trip until we find a contributor (or group of contributors) who appreciates the project we have spent so much time organizing as well as our men and women in uniform that protect us every day on the Mother Road. If you (or someone you know) is interested in contributing to our event, call our office at 800-455-8687 or respond to this email for more details.
