In reply to: Bearhawke's ass talking side kick.. 's message, "Mean Mr. Mopar,....sadly you haven't read enough to know when and where the 'RB' and 'B' block were in production, before you open your pie hole again, bone up on your knowledge. Try using Bearhawke's "440" heads on any mopar 'B' big block and count the minutes before it fails. Then take a deap breath and get a hug from mommie and down some Prozac." on 21:42:00 07/21/02 Sun

Fair enough:
To whom it may concern...........please enlighten me as to what separates the 440 Magnum heads 1968 up from the standard 440 and all 383-400 V8's Magnum or not.
Yes, there are differences between model years starting ca. 1971 but within the same year I am aware of no difference between heads with one exception.
Yes: if my information is correct; the 1976-78 440 Magnum heads were a special animal both Canada/Federal and California.........apparently they used the small 'peanut' spark plug to accommodate bigger cooling passages around the exhaust valve area to inhibit cracking.
However: this thread was referring to 1968 or so BB (Big Block) heads in general; 426 Hemi obviously excepted lol
On the other hand: I would be wrong if I claimed that the 1967 440 Magnum was the same as the other 1967 back BB heads.........that one model year it was a special closed chamber head. The 1968+ heads were open chamber.
For the record: I am speaking about passenger car heads..........trucks are a world unto themselves......
