Your point being that an inexpensive gown can win. So, girls can win in inexpensive gowns at MKO as well so it shouldn't hurt them. If they have the goods they can even purchase a used gown. I don't think girls purchasing expensive gowns is hurting the pool of girls competing. Just because someone can purchase an expensive gown doesn't meant they don't also have the talent to go with it or vise versa. You proved your own point with your post opening. They just need to show up if they have the talent and the rest to go with it. There were expensive gowns in the top placers last year as well as off the rack prom so it was pretty mixed.
