Junior pageant introduction attire -- Laurie Larson (help), 20:39:17 01/15/12 Sun [2]
What is the introduction /Group photo attire? Do we get the t-shirt mailed to us before the pageant? What kind of black bottoms are you looking for? Shoe type?
Please include an example of the intro. speech you are looking for. Thanks

- LOL Laurie. I like how you said "(help)". LOLOL! OK ... the intro/group photo is t-shirt, black pants or shorts, and either white or black shoes. The tshirt will be mailed to you before the pageant. There is a sample intro speech on this board (below) ... click the arrow to play the video. It is an example for an older girl, but you will get an idea of about how long it should be and the type of information that might be in it. - The shoes won't even be noticed by judges. If it's black pants that you wear, then probably black shoes of any type (so they aren't noticeable) .. if it's shorts, then black or white shoes ... probably white tennies. -- Cheryl, 21:18:47 01/15/12 Sun

The last batch of local crowns and banners has arrived and is being shipped to contestants today (and some are picking them up).

The next batch has been ordered and is expected to arrive to me in approximately 3 weeks. I will post on here again when they come in.

- DELAY ON THE LAST BATCH - The crown supplier is on holiday until February 9, so the order for crowns is stalled until then. Do the girls generally hand out little gifts to one another? If so, should we purchase enough for all contestants or just our age group? Will you tell us how many we need to plan for? Trying to get as organized as possible so I am not trying to get things done at the last minute.

- There is no "rule" about gifts, of course, and you are free to do what you want. It's a very nice gesture and I think since this is the first year for this particular pageant, it may be small enough to make that feasible for you. But everyone is free to do what they want. Once January 25 rolls around (the deadline), I can let you know how many are in your division and the pageant so you can plan accordingly. In fact, photos will be put up of each of the contestants so you will be able to see that information. Right now some age groups have 2 in them, some have 5 or 6, so there won't be a ton in each age group. But leave it to you to think of such a nice thing, Shellie! ;o) -- Cheryl, 09:35:31 01/06/12 Fri

I see someone else asked, but wanted to make sure the stage and modeling format are the same for both fun fashion and gown. Will the judges be sitting at the front/end of the stage? It sounds like maybe it is a "T" shaped stage.

- Hi Shellie! Yes, the stage will be set up in a T format, with the top of the T being at the front, by the judges, who will be seated at the front ... there will be no extended runway, it will just be a rectangular stage.   - And the format will be the same for everything ... The X's will be placed on the stage and will remain there for the entire pageant. - Hi Valinda!! 1-Intros will be done right after registration and group photos, in their t-shirts and black pants/shorts. 2-First is introduction, (then for 13+ interviews), then the modeling category and last, evening gown. There will be two curtains on each side of the stage, forming an opening in the middle. The girls will come out the middle, then forward to the front of the stage, then to an X on the left, pivot, middle, pivot, right, pivot, exit. I wanted to give an explanation of the Onstage Introduction category of competition so everyone will be on the same page.

Basically, contestants should start their introductions by stating their name and city title, followed by 2-3 sentences giving memorable information about themselves that they would like the judges to know and remember. A sample introduction is shown below:

"Good afternoon, I am Suzy Smith, Miss Rockford. I attend the University of XYZ, where I am majoring in Psychology, with a minor in Business. You might find me at the Mall of America on weekends, where I am working on my extracurricular degree ... shopping! I'm proud to be a volunteer for the American Heart Association, and I look forward to representing my title throughout the next year. Thank you."

If you keep your introductions to about this length, you should score well. Resist the temptation to go on and on and on, because it will only hurt you. Deliver your introduction with confidence and a smile, and it will be a very easy category to get a top score in!

For the Junior pageant, Roberta can chime in here (she is the director for the Juniors), but I know the 3 year olds do not give an introduction and for the very young, it can be shorter to take their ages into consideration.

  - No, sorry, it's not full glitz ... it's mid-level. Minimal/stage makeup on girls in the Junior pageant ages 3-12, and then the older girls of course compete with makeup. THANK YOU, local titleholders, for spreading the word about the pageant! We are getting inquiries from more people every day, and they say they are hearing about the pageant from YOU! Thanks for doing your part in helping the system grow by making appearances and letting others know about our system (and looking so beautiful at the same time)!

We can't wait to meet you all in person in March!!

I spoke to Roberta Anderson-Smith yesterday and she is excited about taking over the Junior pageant as soon as the holidays are over ... she's a florist and will be making beautiful winner's bouquets for both pageants, as well as securing qualified judges for the Junior pageant that are fair, impartial and nice!

A batch of crowns and banners is being sent out on Tuesday, November 29, 2011. Watch your mail for the special delivery!!

Remember, send me appearance photos .... 3 appearances before February 26, 2012 qualifies you to receive a special gift and recognition on stage!

The next batch of banners will be worked on soon ... when I receive an email from the banner lady telling me she's starting work on them, I will post an update as to when we might expect to receive them.

Register and pay your fees NOW to get your crown and banner before the holidays ... it takes about 3 weeks to get the banners embroidered, sent to me, then sent to you. If you plan on doing holiday appearances in December, you need to register now.

The first order is going to be shipped to me on Monday, November 21. Get your registration in if you want to be included in the next batch of orders!

Contestant photos will not be posted on the website until after the deadline, January 25, 2012. We don't want people making decisions whether to enter or not based on who and how many are in their division. Make your decision based on your personal goals and wishes ... do you want a local title to promote an issue or make appearances/do parades, etc.? Do you want to compete in a quality, professional pageant for a national title? Are you looking for an arena to practice for other pageants? Do your personal best, and do not worry about other contestants ... trust me, that alone can create unnecessary stress. Keep your eyes on the prize!
