Subject: Nova Irons compared to 1 Irons

Trying to decide whether Nova Irons would be better than the 1 Iron set for me. I am 62, 5'10" and have a generally upright swing. I feel comfortable hitting shorter irons but inconsistent with all woods, including hybrids. I hit a 5 iron about 160, tee off with a 3 wood and hit it about 220 but inconsistently. my WTF is 34.5".

Any suggestions?

Mac, Either set would be a fine choice and would improve your game. From what you say I believe your confidence in your short irons will transfer to your long irons and woods/hybrids with some trips to the range. The Nova's will promote this confidence because you use the same "sweeping" type of swing for your irons as well as your woods/hybrids.

Michael,
I just got my Nova clubs a Month ago, still trying to get used to them. I'm in Land O Lakes FL. a bit too far for you.

The 1 Iron clubs are good and turned my game around, but the Nova's are absolutely great. Got mine the beginning of last year and by this time last year I had shot in the 70's 3 times. That improved greatly as the year went on and this time I have already shot in the 70's 19 times out of 31 with very much cold and wet weather for the first part of the year.

My approach shots are very much on target. I say, choose the Nova's. In addition, I turned 70 last fall and my game is getting better all the time.

By the way Ron, how are you coming with developing a Gap Wedge?

Michael, you can purchase the Nova's through the Gria Golf web site. I currently do not have dealer in the Naples area, but I am working hard to get one on the Gulf coast.

FEAR NOT--they work.
I ordered the hybrid irons and am hitting the ball higher than I have in years. My pro (who ordered the clubs for me) told me he didn't believe the ball would stop on the green--boy was he mistaken--I can fire at the pins an stop the ball. I play on fast greens.
