That was very interesting reading. The story of Willie made me think of the show Fact or Fiction. That story just sounds so peculiar to me. Maybe it's my lack of sleep. LOL

I really wanted to know more about Nellie Owen's life and also about her mother's life. I read a little, but I don't know enough. I take it Mrs. Owens was not like Katherine MacGregor on little house on the praire. Was the real Nellie Owens a brat? If Nellie and her mother were not really like they were portrayed on the show, then why did Michael Landon have them portrayed that way? Also, why did they change their name to Oleson on the show, when it was really Owens? On the show, why did they make her mother's name Harriet and her father's name Neils, when their real names were William and Margaret? Was Nellie really as bratty as the show portrayed her to be?

My impression was that Nellie was based on a couple of girls that Laura knew, but I'm not sure. I think Laura did write about Nellie as if she was bratty, but maybe she exaggerated.
