Subject: Romance back then...

I think this may have come up before, but thought I would mention it anyway. How did Folks ever find time to be romantic as couples? Ma and Pa and the children were knitted closely together in small homes, some families shared rooms and even beds with one another. I know on the Tv Show.. Carrie shared a room with Ma and Pa. It is one thing to be quiet, but I know that it would't be any fun trying not to wake anyone when the mood hit.

I think it would have been difficult. On the one hand, I think it would be a very warm, loving feeling to have everyone so close together, but on the other hand, not exactly "romantic."
On Frontier House the couples with children mentioned lack of "desire" but a lot of that had to do with no energy at the end of the day due to all the hard work involved. But the honeymoon couple did find time for romantic walks and, I'm sure, romantic evenings. ^^ But, then, without children, their work load was less, as well as having the privacy.
Maybe Ma and Pa were very romantic before the kids came along. ;)

I must have missed this post.

I suppose child prevention was easier than we thought. I cannot see pioneers having the desire OR time to do such things. LOL I suppose you were used to such things then.
