Subject: Frontier House, the wedding

The wedding was so sweet. I loved the dress that Nate gave to his bride--and she was so thrilled she wouldn't have to wear the purple and pink outfit the historians had picked out for her! Mrs. Clune made a beautiful bride's cake and Mrs. Glenn made a delicious looking grooms cake. The groom, Nate, is a real catch! His bride was a bit shocked at conditions, but seems to be adjusting pretty well, and they appear to be a very loving couple.
The Glenns are on the verge of divorce. He said she was like "Hitler" because she's so bossy. She complains that he's too whiny.
I think she had a lot of outlets for her bossiness in the real world and has no one but her family to focus on now. But instead of ragging on him as he made the chicken coop she asked to build that it wasn't perfect as he went along, I think she could have been sweeter when asking for changes and then when he finished (and did a good) she could have thanked him, hugged him and told him how much she appreciated him building the coop that she envisioned. Men like to feel that they are pleasing the women in their lives! She is the more resourceful of the two, but he carries out her "orders" and I don't think she could get the jobs done without him. Who wouldn't love a guy who would accomplish those tasks for her, even if she was the one who had to come up with the plan? I feel kind of sorry for her actually. She seems to need to prove how superior she is all them, and obviously this is a turn off to people.

Hi Ann,
We have been watching. It is pretty interesting. The Clune Family is a little different. It seems like they are all really having a tough time. I liked the wedding too.

I thought the wedding was very nice also! I'm so glad the bride (can't remember her name..Kristen?) was able to wear a white dress. I thought the Clunes were a little "better" this episode than the first. I think Mrs. Glenn (?) is trying to make it seem like an episode of Survivor with all her it's a game talk.

ps-Nate or his brother would both be VERY nice catches;)

I haven't watched all the episodes yet.(I did tape them but couldn't stay awake that late to watch them thru). I was wondering, in 1883 would Nate and Kristen been allowed to marry? I see nothing wrong with it but were there any interratial(sp?) marriages at the time, even in the north?I just can't see it happening then.

I think they said it would be illegal in many states, but I'm not sure about Montana. I do remember they said black children wouldn't be able to go to a public school, so the families decided to chip and hire the teacher privately so that if the Brooks had had children they could go.

I think they said that interracial marriages did happen rarely. It was very tabu. I'm sure that they would have had a very rough way.
