SUMMER VACATION
With summer vacation coming up and all the kids getting out of school for the summer, What is everyone planning on doing this summer?
My kids get out of school on May 23rd. My youngest son is leaving for California on June 7th. He's going with a friend and his family and will be gone a week. The day after he gets My husband being in the military his unit is going to the field for a week. And two days after he gets home my oldest son is going to the boy scout camp in New Mexico he is going to work on the staff there so he will be gone 5 to 6 weeks. On July 7th my youngest is going to go to boy scout camp for a week. The day after we drop him off at camp My husband is going to go to his moms in Oklahoma for a week for a family reunion( I chose not to go to this because i didn't want to go that far off and leave my boys behind in case of emergency). As for me and my daughter we are stuck at home all summer. She is a disabled child so it will give me some one on one time with her. She just participated a couple of weeks ago in Special Olympics and got a fifth place ribbon for the softball throw and the gold medal for her wheelchair race. Plus I go to the doctor on Monday and we are going to talk about maybe having a Gastric bypass done (I have mixed feelings about it so not sure if I'm gonna do it yet).
So that is what my summer looks like. What about everyone else?

I'm not planning on doing much. Maybe going to Montreal to meet my husbands grandmother. Of course I will manage to squeeze in a Malone visit. Other than that just working and saving:)

I'm off to Toronto on June 13th with my mum for 11 days. I can't wait to get away from university and my dissertation for a bit. Then it'll be back to the grind, finishing my MA, and starting my PhD in October.

I don't have any vacation plans yet, but hope to take some day trips. I will be doing some signings with other others at a couple of events in Eugene, one called Art and The Vineyard the July 4th weekend and the other the Lane County Fair.

Hi All,
I think we're planning on going to Missouri which of course will mean a trip to the LIW Home in Mansfield. We have been talking about going a little farther north in Missouri as well. There are a few spots we would like to visit.

Have you been to the House before? I really want to go sometime, when I ever get over the US, but I don't know when that will be!! That would be my dream trip. I'll have to manage with just Devon for now...It's just nice to get away to somewhere different.

Hi Valerie,
Yes, I have been to the LIW Home many times. It is so beautiful and just a wonderful place to visit. I absolutely look forward to going and enjoy every minute spent on those wonderful grounds.
By the way I like your first name. That's my husband's first name.

How cold does it get in NZ in the winter? What season will it be in Australia in October? Spring?

It depends on where you live. I live in the South Island and we get quite of few frosts and sometimes snow. The snow generally only lasts a few days. In parts of the North Island it's usually a bit warmer, and there aren't too many places that get snow.
And yes it will be spring in Australia in October.

I've heard that NZ is really beautiful. Someday when I win the lottery (LOL), I'd love to go travel there.

Re: SUMMER VACATION -- Jennifer, 15:52:59 05/22/02 Wed
Well I just returned from my *summer vacation.* I was in Maryland with my husbands sisters family. We had a great time and went to DC for a day, Gettysburg and Baltimore. We were lucky with the weather for the most part - it was cool. Although we did have some major storms the first few days - which to me was nice because San Diego doesn't ever see thunder and lightning! My next summer vacation is the first week of November but I don't think we will be going anywhere as we are saving for a downpayment for a house.

I have very happy memories of DC as that is where my hubby and I spent part of our honeymoon. :)
Hope you save enough to get a house soon, Jennifer. Though our house is modest, I feel like a Queen in my own home, with my own washer and dryer and no one on the other side of the walls!

If the hoses haven't dried out and cracked, they should be fine, dear DIL!
