Subject: Possibly good news!

Well! SOMEONE upstairs has been looking out for Garrett & me in our house hunt :-) I'll try to make this short. We decided on Sunday we would be better off to buy a townhome/condo to start with due to the housing costs. We found a complex right off the bat which we fell in love with. Problem was that there is a list of 400 people for 117 units being built! Well we got on the list for a July 6 release. Mom & Dad (sorry Ann ) went down Monday to look at the models and long story short one fell out of escrow from the June 8 release and instead of calling the next person on the list the sales lady offered it to my parents! So yesterday we took our good faith deposit in, we meet with the mortgage lady Saturday, sign the contract Sunday and the following weekend pick out our carpet, tile and linoleum!!!! AND I am going to be even closer to Delilah so she will have to find time for us to meet Keep your fingers crossed that this works out for us. If so we should have $20,000 equity by the end of summer! Oh - and our move in date will be end of July - it is a 30 day escrow!

Wow, Jennifer, I am so happy for you! Maybe one day we will be able to get together. Track is over at the end of the month (with the exception of the banquet). I should have more time to talk with you all then.

Jennifer, that is great news. I'll keep my fingers crossed that all goes well. Some day when my hubby and I get a chance to go down there we will all have to get together and eat our way through the yummiest SD restaurants! (It will be interesting meeting my "son" for the first time, lol.)

Hi Ann,
If you're going to go to SD and eat well. Here are two stops worth making. Go to Wall Drug in Wall, SD. Yes, it is a drug store and many, many other stores as well. There is a restaurant in there and the food is really good. There is quite a wide variety. I don't know if this place is still in existence but I'll tell you about it. It is called Trout Haven. This place is near Mount Rushmore. It is a small place but the trout was fantastic. I loved it. I do think that they serve trout for breakfast and lunch. There is also other things on the menu. Actually I am thinking of another place that was really good as well. I don't remember the name of the restaurtant. It is located in Sturgis, SD. This place is known for its pies. They do server other food too. We only ate the pie there and it was superb. There's a little food for thought.

The SD I meant was San Diego, but after reading your mouth-watering descriptions of places to eat in South Dakato, I'm ready to pack my bags for there! Sadly, I don't think I'm going to get travel this summer. I'm pretty much running two households right now as my mother is failing. But I do look forward to some day going down to SD CA and meeting Jennifer and Delilah, and now going to SC the state and eating trout (yum) and other scrumptious delights.

Actually, it turned out great--now we all know where to eat if we go to South Dakato, too. Yum! :)

Pat, 1) you are no dummy by any means! It was just as easy to think SD was South Dakota as San Diego, 2) this has given me an idea. Why don't we all post places to eat where we live (or where we've visited) that we like? Who knows when anyone of us might travel to where another of us lives or has visited?
Here in Eugene, Oregon, I like West Brothers (barbeque and all-American food). The Electric Station is nice, a nice variety of foods, and many of the tables are inside of old train cars. Adam's Place is $$$, but elegant and very good food. For hamburgers, Jamie's is great.

[> Update -- Jennifer, 10:34:05 07/01/02 Mon

Well our loan is in process and it is expected there will be no issues as we have really good credit. We signed the contract yesterday and are off to the design center to pick out our carpet and tile. Now that I finished stressing about the loan process I am stressing about getting packed by the end of the month. LOL!! I have been clenching my jaw without realizing it so that is hurting now. LOL!!!! Oh well! And DELILAH if you read this - from my upstairs balcony off the master bedroom I can see the Silver Strand!!! Maybe all your track etc. will be over by the time we move in at the end of the month.

Hey, that is great news Jennifer! Hey, the packing part is the fun part... you get to finally throw away things you haven't seen in a while! Moving is always stressful, but you will enjoy the fact that you will be home owners...I know you will enjoy your new place!

[> [> We're Moved! -- Jennifer, 10:01:29 08/02/02 Fri

We moved last Saturday. UGH! I am glad that part is over! Now it is slow going unpacking everything. And we haven't had phone service for over a week now (long story! LOL!) but they come this afternoon to do it - thank goodness. My poor cell phone has WAAAAYYY exceeded it's 60 minute limit! Anyway - my friend Christine is going to build me a little web page and put pictures of my new townhouse on it so everyone can see it. Of course - this won't be happening until things are semi-clean. LOL!!! But I will keep you posted - in case any of you are interested. Guess I am pretty proud of this, eh?

That's great, Jennifer. It's a bore unpacking all right, but soon enough you'll be settled in. It would be great to see pictures of your new home on a web page!!!
