Yes, they're glass. I'm hoping there's some old-fashioned recipe (vinegar and salt or some such) that will do the trick. I've tried an array of stuff from the store, but nothing seems to really work. A lot of stuff looks as if it worked while the glass is still wet, but then it dries and there's the soap scum!

I am glad I don't have her name because every time I have typed it I get it wrong! Anyway - here is what she says:

Sparkling Shower Doors

I do housecleaning as a side job and have come across shower doors with so much soap scum I sometimes have to use a single-edged razor on them first, then a bathroom cleaner. Is there an easier way?

Use a spray formulated for soap scum on tubs and tile. These products are in supermarkets -- follow the instructions carefully. Let set a minute or two, then clean with a plastic scrubby. You may have to apply several times. Dry well with paper towels. You can also try white household vinegar for hard-water and soap-scum residue. Pour it into a spray bottle and saturate the doors. Wait a minute, then clean with a plastic scrubby, rinse, and dry. To prevent buildup, apply a light coat of mineral oil or liquid lemon oil furniture polish with a fresh cloth. (To avoid a slippery situation, don't get any on the floor or tub.)

Thanks, Jennifer! I'll give it a try (although I think secretly I was hoping for a magic trick that would be really easy with no scrubbing or rinsing, lol!).

I must have applied a bit more elbow grease in some places than others, and will have to go over spots that I missed. But shower scum definitely took a hit! Thanks for the tips!

I haven't tried that yet. I want to get it cleaner. There is still *some* scum. The problem is, it's hard to tell how good a job I did until it was all dry and I'd moved on to something else.
