About the date of thanksgiving being the last Thursday of November.. I caught the tail end of a talk show radio bit today, and the D.J was saying that the President in, I believe the year was 1951,*( I am bad at History ladies..so I forget who was president that year!) had changed that tradition, and made Thanksgiving the week before Christmas.. however.. Merchants around the country were furious, because it messed up their Christmas sales. So, needless to say, this only lasted for that one year, and then, he put the tradition for Thanksgiving back to the Last Thursday of Novemeber. Laura died in 1959, didn't she? So, she would have been alive to see this, and I wonder what she thought about it? I wonder what they would have thought back in Lauras time when she was a child growing up, about the commercialism that we have today around our holidays? I bet they would have been disapointed to know that some of our people of today forget the true meanings of Christmas and Thanksgiving.
