Subject: How old were you when you started reading LHOP books?
I was in my 30's. I started reading them after seeing my daughter devouring them. And she started reading them because she liked the TV show. So even though the show was not terribly true to the books, it did inspire thousands to read the books, I'm sure. Plus, the show was good family programming and could be enjoyed as long as one remembered that it was not true to the books.
I sometimes wonder how things would have been different if I *had* read the books when I was child. Would they have helped me be less shy, and a bit more like Laura? Or would I have simply enjoyed them the way I enjoyed The Black Stallion books?

I guess I was about 11. My sister had four of them and my Mum gave me one to read one day when I was bored! I have been adicted ever since (although I will admit to several years in my twenties when I probably didn't read any, but I pretty much knew them by heart anyway!)
I don't think it made me a different person, just gave me a new interest. I don't think I realised they were "true" for several years. Once I realised that, what was a childhood obsession which would probably have ended there, became an adult obsession, hungry to know the truth.

Well, let's see..... I started reading them last year, which would have made me 41 years old! LOL! I still haven't read them all, but have a local used book store owner has my number and is going to call me if any come in.... I hunt for them at yard sales too.. but haven't had any luck. A girlfriend of mine had the collection(they belonged to her daughters) and years ago, I had asked her to give them to me if she ever got rid of them, and I had my own daughter in mind to read them.. but she forgot and got rid of them a few years later. Little did I know that I would be the one interested in them , and I have to attribute that to the TV series in all honesty, because without that, I would have never found the sites to LIW, and would have never started reading them at all.

ohmygosh, Cindy! Which ones haven't you read?
I started reading them late in the 4th grade, so that would be around age 10, I guess. And I was a senior in highschool before I owned my own copy of THGY. My boyfriend at the time bought it for me.... I wonder whatever happened to him?

I think I was about 10 or 11, but it's only been in the last 2 years that I've bought them for myself and have been re-reading them

On my 8th birthday (I'm 30 now) I received a boxed set of the first five books as a gift from my parents. I read LHITBW over and over and just loved it. Then I progressed on with the others, in time, and loved them all. Later, I guess I was about 11 or 12, Mum added to my collection: Little Town on The Prairie, These Happy Golden Years, Farmer Boy and The First Four Years. I still have all these original books, but about 2 years ago bought myself a new boxed set of them all as my old one is very "fragile"!
They are my favourite all-time books along with my LM Montgomery, my Louisa Alcott and my Jane Austen books. I have recently added to my collection of favourite books: Harry Potter (I have the first four!) and a Lord of the Rings boxed set, complete with The Hobbit.

I first read them when I was 9 or 10. I always liked the show and about 2 years ago I got inmterested in the books again, bought my own set and got intersted in learning more about Laura.(I think because when I re-read the books I realized how differrent they were than the show. Didn't think about that when I was younger.)

I was about 12 when my parents bought the box set for me for Christmas, I think. The TV series had just started over here in the UK and I really enjoyed it, I didn't read them all at once though, I kept going back to them. I was very shy as a child, I really admired Laura- wanted to be like her!
