Subject: Which LHOP person (excluding Laura) would you talk to if you could? (see message)

The person you choose could be either someone we know is real, or one who is possibly a composite (Nellie, Mr. Edwards, Rev. Alden?), but it would be that person in the age range he or she was when during the period of the books. (In other words, you can't ask anyone how he/she felt about the LHOP books). What would you ask that person? And would you give that person any advice?
I think I'd like to talk to Carrie. I'd love to talk to *all* of them of course, and although the one "problem" with Carrie is that she is either not born or very young in some of the books, I think she'd be old enough in others for a discussion.
I think I'd ask her which "little house" she liked living in the best. She seemed to have a pretty good life, so I don't know that I'd offer her any advice, except maybe to keep a journal when she grows up about whatever her future profession would be. I find it pretty interesting that she worked on newspapers and would like to read more about that.

I'd ask Pa WHY he really left the Big Woods for Indian Territory, and I'd ask him why he left Kansas to go back to WI. I'd ask him where the family slept in the hotel in Burr Oak, and where the mill was that he owned part of. I'd ask about the homestead near Walnut Grove (not the Plum Creek site; he had a homestead near there that he relinquished). I'd want to know exactly what kind of guns he had, where the fiddle came from, who taught him to play (and would he play for ME), and I'd ask where Freddy was buried. And I'd ask him to light his pipe, so I could smell what it smelled like.

Just off the top of my head .

[> The Boasts -- LisaE, 16:38:37 02/28/02 Thu

Very interesting question, so many people to choose..

What I've always wondered was how the Wilder's and Boasts got along after the incident where the Boasts wanted to trade for Rose. Were things awkward? Did Laura ever mention it to her parents?

I never even thought about the Boasts! But it would be interesting to hear their answer, that's for sure.

I would ask Almanzo what kind of emotions he had and for how long, after his stroke...why he and Laura never named their baby son...and what attracted him to Laura, being that she was much younger than himself. I always wonder just how much passion they felt... was it warm and fuzzy, or was it more of a practical thing, or both?

Hi All,
I would like to talk to Ma. I would like to know how she did it all and seemed to stay cheerful.
