I also watched the full series on tape this weekend-Nanc!! how strange. I saw it when it was on our TV years ago and have seen it twice since then, but I still really enjoy watching it. Colin firth was so good in the part of D'arcy, do you not think parts of Bridget Jones Diary are very similar to P & P, the part of Darcy in that story is so similar, the way he is so proud at the beginning and how Bridget can't stand him at first??

Valerie, The two do have the same plotline. In the special stuff on the video, the author even said she borrowed it from P&P and that the use of Mr. Darcy and Pemberly Press (where Bridget works) is no coincidence, nor was casting Colin Firth. Hugh Grant's character (Daniel Cleaver) is based on Mr. Wickham, too.

I haven't read the book (Bridget Jones...); now I'm dying to!

Nancy- I haven't read the book either, there is a 2nd book isn't there ?and they are supposed to be thinking about making another film, but I read that the actress that played Bridget doesn't want to be on the weight again, I didn't think she looked that bad, but in real life she is so thin!

There is a second book. There's a part in it where Bridget interviews Colin Firth that is quite funny. I've read both books. Bridget Jones' Diary(the book) is full of references to Bridget and her friends fancying Colin Firth and watch P&P quite a bit. I read them after seeing the movie, and found the references to Colin Firth quite amusing, since he was in the movie.
