There's also a fictional book about the Iowa years coming out in March/April. It's by Cynthia Rylant, called "Old Town in the Green Groves." Will be interesting to see how much research went into that one, but probably not much beyond using Pioneer Girl.

Cynthia Ryant used to live here in Oregon (maybe she still does, I'm not sure). That one I might look for at the library.
