Sorry got them mixed up! AI was originally a pageant designed by contestants for contestants but in its second year Deb Dyer had some health issues and the new director changed everything. There were even several different crowns that year. The changes where far from the original concept and from what I heard pageant weekend was not organized well. I also know that the director got involved with some voy board nastyness only to find out that what she had been told was not true. I had another contestant tell me I was lucky I tore a tendon in my foot and could not compete. Ms Illinois AI 2009 16:58:39 09/26/12 Wed

I have to agree. I was with a friend who competed, didn't want to, but she had paid before the change of directors. She was so upset at the changes, the mess, the switch in titles, crowns and awards, that she wished she'd never gone. It looks like everyone bailed anyway, so it's defunct now. I head the queens didn't even come back to crown. Sorry for Deb Dyer, who had a dream, and had to let it go. -- oh well, it got what it deserved, 02:22:30 09/27/12 Thu
