Author: Atumi and Tew
Subject: When I say boredom kills, I really do mean it! =O,O=

Tew wakes up quite suddenly, his sunlight blocked and the fresh, beaming warmth gone from his vibrant golden self. Baby-blue eyes lock upon the shadow that's obscuring the heat and the lithe tan grins goofily. Atumi gazes down at his fellow pack second with slightly amused teal eyes, four toned limbs holding his supple frame directly over the sprawled tan. "I would say I've been pounced but I know better," the lean male says light-heartedly, an impish grin on his slender features. Atumi's lip curls slightly, a widening of his own grin, before his velvet-grey blade lightly smacks Tew's muzzle, sharp edge held away from the tan's flesh. "Challenge," the black purrs, fangs bared briefly in a full grin. Tew chuckles under his breath, whapping Atumi's shoulder with his own coppery tailblade. "Challenge accepted. Now get off me, you lummox, so I can properly kick your tail." Atumi snorts but leaps easily to the edge of the branch, turning and waiting as Tew gathers his lanky self under him and rises, stretching a little.

Tew eyes the waiting black, taller and more muscular than the tan, nearly as fast and a good bit stronger, but not as agile. When Atumi doesn't use life-force offensively, Tew usually poses a good challenge to the infamous warrior, and the tan knows that he's the only Korat Atumi can fight and keep a good mood. Either way, the tan thinks to himself, I've not had a good fight in a while, and even I get bored once in a while without some violence to spice things up. "How far we going, eh, mri'fao?" the golden male calls, grinning wickedly as Atumi tosses his sculpted muzzle negligently. "Until we both collapse. Hopefully from wounds, and not exhaustion. I dislike using my endurance against you." Tew half-lids his eyes in a knowing grin; the tan's endurance is nearly equal to the black's, and Atumi often jests about the fact.

The two males study each other for a long moment, Tew still grinning and Atumi still amused. The tan knows all too well that Atumi never makes the first move, preferring his opponent to attack first and thus be defeated before the fight even begins, but Tew has ways around this strategy. Blue eyes shining brightly, the black-clawed tan takes one final, easy breath, and then erupts into motion, too quick to be seen. Of course, with Atumi's senses, that doesn't quite apply -- the black springs high, dodging Tew's feint, and in return ricochets off a nearby tree trunk just as the tan makes the same move. Both Korats careen mid-air towards each other, hitting in a bone-crushing collision where Tew's superior speed and Atumi's greater mass simply cancel each other out.

If one could take a snapshot of the exact instant that they met, that individual would see that they didn't exactly crash. Forehands pressed to forehands, heads were held apart easily, tailblade pressed against tailblade and longclaws linked with longclaws -- a position that allowed for no damage to be done to either Korat and for both to easily rebound from the impact.

Which they do, Tew using more force than Atumi and sailing through the air backwards, writhing once to touch against a tree trunk before rocketing forward -- Atumi's tailblade cleaves a five-foot gash in the rock-hard bark, a very narrow miss for the agile tan. The black's close pursuit is deterred by a lightning-fast strike for his throat, Tew's own coppery blade slicing fur and nothing else as Atumi jerks back, forced to slow down. Tew takes the chance to hit bark, twist, and lunge straight for the incoming black at an angle that will allow both males to avoid a collision but that will keep them in tail-range. Atumi's muzzle twitches in a vicious grin, matched only by the fire in his opponent's eyes.

Copper and mist flash as the Korats cross paths, and a geyser of crimson fluid sprays as they pass each other, both landing on branches nearby. Tew's golden pelt is soaked in his own blood, a rip in his flank reaching from shoulder to haunch and deep enough to show ribwall. Atumi raises a furred brow, somewhat surprised. "Losing your touch?" he taunts, grinningly sauntering forward along his branch. As he crouches to leap to Tew's own bough, the tan laughs. "Not quite." Brilliant blue eyes rise to focus on Atumi's suddenly humorless face. The black rises from his crouch, staggers slightly to his left, and then coughs, scarlet droplets painting the greybrown bark. "New... technique..." he grates out, trying to gather his breath. However, Tew doesn't let him.

Despite the enormous wound pouring blood, the supple tan charges forward, a little of his grace lost along with the buckets of life-fluid staining the trees. Atumi, still trying to figure out what exactly Tew did to him, counters the first strike with his tail, but the tan's lean jaws tear bloody furrows in his right shoulder before he is, again, bounding out of reach. "...spill, Tew. What was that technique?" Atumi breathes, turning as his healing system kicks into overdrive to mend whatever internal wounds the tan caused. The younger male laughs aloud, once-pearly teeth stained crimson. "I stole Shula's technique. It just took me a while to perfect it, and you're the first one I got to use it on." Atumi pauses, teal eyes flickering briefly as he searches his memory, looking among the immense number of techniques that the pack leader has for one that fits the bill. After a moment, he flinches, coughs blood, and grins. "Nice. ...my turn."

Tew raises a brow -Atumi shouldn't be able to muster even half his techniques, strength, and speed with a wound like that- as the black springs forward. Pulling an ineffective but fun move, Tew allows himself to slide off the branch and instead clings to the underside of the ten-foot-thick bough, waiting idly. As expected, one steely blow with Atumi's grey tailblade cracks the branch in two, and before he can fall with the bough the agile tan springs away, dancing from tree to tree as Atumi follows with far less alacrity than before. But Tew knows better than to taunt his fellow 'second, and instead prepares another recently-mastered technique.

A small, thread-like vine coils around the tan's wrist, bringing him to an abrupt and painful halt. Blue eyes widening in shock, he slices the grey-indigo plant and lets himself fall, barely escaping a vicious attack from his black opponent. A delayed surge of pain rockets through his skull as blood pours from a nasty cut right behind his ear; Atumi's tailblade didn't entirely miss. Tew lands on a branch only fifty feet above the ground, reflexes a little slower, although by now his own healing system has stopped the blood loss and begun to knit the gaping wound together. The tan grins, spitting his opponent's blood out. If I don't nail him soon, he's going to eat me alive. The tan streaks up a tree trunk, and suddenly freezes, eyes wide and ears twitching wildly. Dyone! Where did that guy go!? For Atumi was nowhere to be found.

The tan inadvertently twitches, a warning chill running through his spine. He wields all his incredible speed in a desperate lunge forward, just in time to hear a deafening crrrrrrrakkkkk-KK! inches behind his golden rump. One glance backwards shows Atumi with his tailblade embedded into a fifty-foot-wide tree, and the second glance backwards shows the black in hot pursuit as the aforementioned tree begins to topple. However, Tew is ready for the next head-to-head attack, and at the next opportunity he ricochets and lunges for the black at a right angle to Atumi's own mid-air leap.

Atumi's tailblade flashes in an arc, straight for Tew's flank again, but this time wielding the same time of energy-strength that chopped the tree in two -- a direct hit would easily kill the limber tan. However, Tew also knows this technique and matches it with his own slender blade, negating most of the force. A violent twist tilts the tan's body, his upper half able to pass over Atumi; his longclaws curve back and then strike in the millisecond that the tan's latter half is over the black's lower back and haunches, tails now freed-- Slender paws and long, curving claws strike near Atumi's spine with force thought impossible for a tan, a slight smell of scorched fur drifting in the crosswinds as Tew uses his opponent as a springboard to rocket away.

Atumi crashes hard, head-first, into a massive tree trunk; the black's motionless form tumbles twenty feet downwards before crumpling on a conveniently-located tree branch. Tew misses his own landing branch, skids mid-air, and uses his half-numb tail to save himself and swing upside-down from a thick bough, dangling uselessly for a moment as he struggles to heal the effects of Atumi's thwarted attack. For several long moments, neither Korat moves.

Atumi had not lost consciousness, only control of his body. The black's water-teal eyes ease open, shivers convulsing his scorched pelt. Though he'd said he wouldn't use energy, that never barred Tew from doing so... and the tan's attack had not only cut deep into flesh but also sent a powerful electrical current directly into the black's spine, temporarily paralyzing him. The effects aren't designed to wear off for days, Atumi knows all too well... as he's the one who invented this technique. Little... thief... Even his thoughts are halting and broken, Atumi realizes as he slowly regains control of his extremities. By the time Tew is able to let himself drop to another branch and land with some grace, the supple black is struggling to his paws.

Despite the massive crack in his ribwall due to that last attack, Tew grins at Atumi's dour expression. "It figures you'd be... half-immune to your own... technique," the tan mutters cheerfully, valiantly ignoring the pain of nearly being sliced in half twice. A sheer, translucent film covers his original flank wound, beginning to thicken and darken into skin. Atumi, however, only has a small flesh wound on his shoulder and now the twin foot-deep punctures near his spine; the rest of his injuries are internal. The black manages a slight grin, straightening up through sheer willpower. "This isn't over yet, Tew. Come get me." The tan laughs aloud, "Hah! You come get me. I doubt you can at this point."

A low chuckle admits some truth to Tew's statement, but Atumi's grin never fades. In a speedy lunge that the black should be incapable of, he crashes into Tew before the surprised tan can dodge. Free-falling in a mass of blades, teeth, claws, and bloody pain, both Korats tear into each other with melee-type ferocity. Slamming into a random branch, the two are forced apart, Atumi landing on the next branch down and Tew digging what remains of his now-broken tailblade into a tree trunk to slowly stop his fall. Thin ears flattening briefly, the bloodied tan bares narrow teeth in a nasty grin; he's determined to 'win' this fight. Though his body is very nearly shattered, his energy is still mostly intact, and that's what he's prepared to use.

The black peers upwards at the possum-positioned tan, surprised that the jagged edges of his halved blade were enough to catch him. Some amusement flashes through teal eyes, but even that vanishes as he sniffs the air. Tew's planning something, and now Atumi really can't move. The rich smell of fresh blood is everywhere now, and the black no longer has the concentration required to push his senses past such an overpowering scent.

Tew's eyes flick open after a minute, and slowly he turns so that his back is no longer against the tree trunk, so that his paws are securely against the rocky, fissured bark. "Last move," he mutters unnecessarily, keeping his grin despite the pain of various injuries that would've killed a lesser Korat already. Using the last of his physical strength, the tan leaps and pretty much falls on Atumi with a total lack of grace... but as golden pelt touches that of ebony, a crackle can be heard and Tew sinks his teeth into Atumi's ear while the black rolls over, using as much momentum as possible to fling the electrified tan away. Either way, the damage has been done; another immense shock has been delivered to Atumi's system, immobilizing the sleek warrior.

"...I..." Tew tries to catch his breath, sprawled only a foot away from the scorched black, "...win. Heh." He receives a teal-eyed glare for his trouble, but a grin tugs at Atumi's muzzle. "Much... to my... surprise..." is all the black manages to say before instinct takes over and sends him into a deep healing trance. Tew is quick to follow, and about eighty feet up the two pack seconds appear very much dead, their blood decorating the trees for a half-mile radius in every direction and some tree limbs (and an entire tree) felled by the battle. And all this because they were bored.
