Subject: Castle/Beckett Relationship Moving Forward

Tonight just feeling apprehensive about the relationship and what might happen as the show goes on.
It is still amazing to me they are actually letting them be a couple but for how long. That is what worries me.
But then I wonder how the show could go on if they broke up. The show is about them solving crimes together. But since Castle is not required to be there why would he stay if they weren’t together. On other shows leads usually work together and it is their job, like on JAG. But not in this case.

Castle has shown the reason he stays is her. We saw that at the end of S4 it doesn’t work if conflict between them. So how do they keep the show going if they aren’t working together? This is what keeps me not freaking out thinking the show just doesn’t work if they break up as no reason for Castle to be at the precinct. Also fact that I am sure would lose a ton of the audience. I would probably stop watching.

I just wonder though how they will deal with them being together as don’t see Gates letting them work out in the field together if she knows. So how long can they keep it a secret? Also since Castle somewhat of a celebrity they can’t go public with it if don’t want Gates to know. So that means she can’t be his date at a launch party or any other function. That seems like it would get old after a while.

The other worry then is because in relationship will they have less of them working together. Maybe he won’t go to busts anymore or into the field that often. This was one of the things I didn’t like about S4 much less of them working together. Not as much theory building or even interrogating suspects. That is some of the best parts of the series. I love S3 as there is so much of this.

So these are just my ramblings of worry about what will happen. I think JAG has made me jaded and maybe just the fact so many shows don’t want to get the lead together out of fear.

Relax! Gates isn't more powerful than Castle or Beckett and certainly not more than the mayor. There is enough set up to keep the drama going and to allow them a romance without any boredom. (NT) -- Theresa, 00:44:03 08/01/12 Wed
