Hi Taylor,
I've typed around three pages now, so I can procrastinate a little. I'm writing an argumentative essay on the two-party political system paradigm and why it should be replaced and how that will contribute to why November will essentially change nothing. I like arguing, so any essay where I can do that is good enough for me. Congrats on the good grades. Eighth grade seems harder than 7th grade, since they're trying to prepare us for high school and all. I didn't take the test yet. I'm supposed to read the book this weekend, but I have to finish my essay, so I'm trying to cram it in. It's a short book, though.
Thanks for clearing up the demerits thing. But, is there a certain number of demerits that get you a detention or vice versa? Or is a demerit harsher than a detention?
Congrats on the winning record. I heard from another thread you started that you hurt your ankle and might miss the rest of the season. I hope it's get better and that you heal fast. How much do you practice with your violin? Do you know how to play any kind of difficult songs yet?
I've heard about the Explore test, but I'm supposed to take it in 9th grade to help decide what careers I might be good at. I take something similar to the Terra Nova; it's called the ISAT that I take in March/April of last year, but it's supposed to end this year because my state is changing the curriculum. It's to decide what classes I can take (honors classes, regular classes, etc.) Usually they give the results by the end of September or October. I think I screwed up on the English test, though. They kept asking me for my opinion of multiple-choice questions and I'm like, "My opinion isn't a choice on this test!" I'm glad it's ending.
I'm going to a public high school. The Writing program is great and so is the math program. I only hate the fact that they don't give you enough history and humanities options. Those are the subjects I really like. I don't have a choice on what school I go to. Unless I go back to private school, but I only have about two choices then. Our quasi-city is pretty big and it's divided up into townships so you have to go the public school that is in your district (Northwest Ordinance of 1783 that Jefferson proposed. That's why I like history. It explains why things are like they are.) Are you going to a private high school? The high schools are pretty big. The one I'll be going to has over 2000 students with about 500 students per grade. It has an open campus, similar to college campuses, so everything is pretty spread out. I think I would feel lost, too.
Nice to hear from you. Hope your ankle gets better.
