In reply to: PJ 's message, "What is used?" on 09:19:59 07/21/12 Sat

I just started getting the paddle in Jan when I turned 12. Before that I always got hand spankings.

Nothing else was ever used though and I wonder how the switch compares to the paddle because I've heard the switch really stings bad but the paddle with holes hurts bad so I just wonder.

I used to get the switch.

The switch is horrible. I hear a hairbrush is worse but I don't know.

Personally, I consider the switch to be worst.

It stings. But it builds. It starts off OK just little flicks of sting on your skin and then it keeps building to an almost burning sensation. Unlike a belt or paddle, there is no deep muscle soreness but the intense sting and pain on the skin surface is almost unbearable.

If you get switched, make sure who ever is swinging the switch knows what they are doing. A switch can actually slice the skin. Dad knew what to do and I was never sliced. In fact, the results of a switch, used properly, are just a lot of faint pink lines.

There is little residual soreness, the pain is all during the spanking. The issue is the itching. In a few hours, as the skin "heals" it itches. The itching is almost to the point of being painful. The itching is severe for about a half hour.

Dad only used a switch because that is how Grandad did him. The predecessor to this site was actually instrumental in getting Dad to stop using switches.

If you have a say in it, I would not recommend a switch. Dad wouldn't either.

Ouch...the switch sounds horrible! I had heard it stings bad but I never knew anyone who got the switch. And I never heard of it itching like that. Guess I should be "glad" I get the paddle, but I hate it so I'll try to remember it could be worse next time.

Why did your Dad stop using the switch and why does he not recommend it? Just wondering, if you can say. Good your Dad stopped though!

My grandfather used a switch on me once. OUCH!

You DO NOT want to get it with a switch. I was miserable.

Wonder if the switch is more old fashioned, you and PJ both said your grandfathers used it. I never knew anyone getting the switch.

Hope I never have to get that. I'll remember what you said if my parents think of that and try to talk them out of it.

Hope you don't get it with the switch anymore!

Well, PJ and I had the SAME grandfather. We are cousins.

Yes, it is sort of an old fashioned thing.

I don't think so much that the switch is, "sort of an old fashioned thing," Benji and Ryan. Ten years ago, I was a Big Brother to an eight and a half year-old boy whose roots were from Appalachia (West Virginia). He did something or other which upset his Mom, and she told won of his brothers to, "get her a switch." I had no idea what this was, but I knew it was going to be used to punish my Little Brother. I was able to persuade the Mom that she didn't need to punish my friend.

The switch may be something that is a regional implement; depending upon where one grew up. I grew up in the northeast U.S. and I never heard of a switch until this incident. I remember getting home and using the dictionary to find out what the Mom had said!

My Dad says that it is sort of old fashioned and I believe him. He says that it is still used in some regions of the country where it was always most common but that doesn't mean it's not sort of old fashioned.

Ohhhh...makes sense.

Not like all grandfathers are using switches then maybe. It sounds horrible and I thought the paddle was bad.

Does your paddle have holes, Ryan?

Yes, it does have holes. My parents say that's so there's no air cushion and so it hurts more. Makes sense I guess and it does hurt a lot, but I don't know the difference.

There is a HUGE difference between a paddle with holes and one without.

At school, the paddles are not allowed to have holes. Before Dad introduced our paddles (which have holes) he was using a belt. Mom was using her school paddle on us.

So, I had good experience with a paddle without holes. Both at school and from Mom.

When I first got it with the paddle with holes, I was amazed at how much more sting and burn was there.

It is true, a paddle with holes hurts A LOT more.

PJ, do you and your brothers have your own paddle or does your Dad use the same one on all of you? I'm glad our paddle doesn't have holes! I bet it hurts a lot more. Where did your Dad get a paddle with holes? Did he make it?

We each have our own. We made them with Dad. The holes were our stupid idea. We were being "men."

Dad is good about adjusting force and number to compensate for the holes.
