Subject: FOOTBALL PRACTICE TODAY! Author: Sean [ Next Thread | Previous Thread | Next Message | Previous Message ] Date Posted: 19:15:19 08/01/12 Wed We started football practice today. It was this morning before it got too hot but I was so excited to get started. But man did we run a lot! One kid was puking about half way through the workouts so we stopped for a while. We can't put on pads or even helmets the first week. But it's been really tough already. our coach is a nice guy but man he works us hard! We lost 3 guys alrady who quit. First few practices we will just be doing running, running, more running, conditioning and some drills. Our coach believes the best conditioned teams wins game. At first we will just wear our helmets and shouldr pads, nt all the pads. We graduated 14 starters from last years team so lots of positions are up for grabs. I was a wide reciever. First we had a team meeting, coach says we lost a lot of seniors from last years team and now it is time for us younger kids to step up to the plate. We have a rebuilding year ahead of us and he expects a 110% all the time from us. We also reviewed the team rules and what coach expected from us. After the meeting we got our gear and then changed into our practice cloth. We did some running, conditioning, stretching and exercises. We didn't practice all the long today, but tomorrow we will get down t business. We have practice at 6:00 Am in th emorning until school starts and then we will practice after school. Later. We been doing a lot of workouts and drills. It's been tough but i't getting easier everyday. We got our helmets finally yesterday but we don't get our pads until next week. We practice early in the morning too but we don't start until 7am. It's tough getting up that early in summer but my dad says if I want to be successful I got to do what it takes. We have been doing drills, running plays and have been scrimmaging. Coach said I am the third wide receiver. These two seniors will be starting at wide receiver, but when we run plays with three reciever going deep, I am in the game. Also, I will be in the game when he wants to rest one of the starters, or if one is hurt, I get to start. I should get some decent playing time. We got our game uniforms Friday, I am number 88 again. At my school, on game day, we wear our jerseys to school on game day. For home games, we wear our home jersey and for away games, we wear our visiting team jersey. [ Post a Reply to This Message ]

I've been playing mostly db with some time at wr. We don't have anyone who can throw very good so we will be running the ball mostly. I've been working out at halfback too. I like playing defense though. We play our first game Aug 30. We get our jerseys then but we can't wear them during school. That would be cool if we could. I want to be number 2. It is always great to win the season opener, but the game was ugly. Both team splayed kind of bad and made mistakes. But a win is a win. I had 7 receptions for a 145 yers and no TDs. It's so cool practicing in full gear now. we finally got to do some contact drills too and man is my body sore! I love it thoough! My mom is all freaking out about it. She didn't want to play football but she was ok until we started contact drills. Now she's all worried about me getting hurt. Is your mom like that? Hey congratualations on winning the state chamiponship last year. Our school is small too. We only got 2 8th grade and 2 7th grade classes but kids from other schools near us can play for us too if they don't have a team. So we got barely enough for the 7th grade team. We dug an early hole and were down 14-0 before we got on the board. We would tie the game and it was close until the third quarter when we took a 28-12 lead. They would score again in the fourth Q, but when we got he ball back we did a great job of eating the clock. With seconds to go we had the ball at their 15 yard line and it was fouth down, our QB took the snap and took a knee, but he took the knee too soon, their was still 0.7 seconds on the clock and they got the ball back. They set up for an 85 yard miricle play but their QB fumbled the ball into the end zone and one of our player recovered it. WE scored a defensive TD and won 34-20. Our defense scored the touchdown on a fumble recovery and the extra point was no good. Our defense did not allow anything but a field goal from them. I sacked their QB - it felt good. He found out today he has some tendon and bone injury in his upper left arm. He is probably going to have surgery and is most likely done for the season. He is really bummed.
